Base Amount
₹1,000
GST Amount
₹180
Final Amount
₹1,180
How it is calculated
Add: Total = Amount × (1 + GST%) · Remove: Base = Amount / (1 + GST%)
When adding GST, GST amount is Base × GST rate. When removing GST, the taxable amount is the GST-inclusive price divided by (1 + rate), and GST is the difference.
Example
At 18% GST, a base price of ₹1,000 becomes ₹1,180 (GST of ₹180). Conversely, a GST-inclusive price of ₹1,180 at 18% means a taxable value of ₹1,000 and GST of ₹180.
